On Street Parking Blocking Entrance to Complex
Post date: Sep 29, 2013 8:48:3 PM
There has been an increase of on street parking where the vehicle has been blocking the entrance to the complex. City of Calgary Traffic Bylaw 26M96 - 114(g) states that: a driver shall not stop or park his vehicle "within 1.5 metres of an access to a garage, private road or driveway, or a vehicle crossway over a sidewalk." This includes parking behind garages, in front of the steps towards other units, fire lanes, and the entrance to the complex.
Anyone can call the Calgary Parking Authority (CPA) to report any vehicle parked on the street that is not in compliance with the 1.5 metres. This is to ensure line-of-sight safety for vehicles entering and exiting the complex. Currently, the CPA is issuing tickets but this does not mean that the vehicle cannot be towed because it can and it will if more vehicles are found to disobey traffic bylaws.
The CPA can be contacted at 403-537-7100, Option 2. If you find a vehicle blocking the entrance, please call and they will come and ticket it.
The Board has been receiving many complaints about residents who park here and we will not tolerate it for the safety of others in the complex. There is a zero tolerance policy on parking and we will start to tow if required.
